Syniad adds Lovell to £150m roster
The Birkenhead office of affordable housing specialist Lovell, part of the Morgan Sindall group, has been chosen by the Syniad Consortium to work on its £150m development framework in Wales.
Syniad, which comprises Wales & West Housing Association, Linc-Cymru Housing Association and the Pennaf Housing Group, is starting a major programme to build new affordable, energy-efficient housing across North, South and Mid Wales.
The framework will operate across 16 local authority areas in Wales to deliver new homes and provide construction skills training and job opportunities.
The new housing will include super-green homes which meet Level 4 – exceeding the Welsh Assembly Government's minimum standards – of the Code for Sustainable Homes, the system for assessing the environmental performance and energy efficiency of new housing.
"This is an important initiative which will make a significant contribution to the Welsh Assembly Government's target of delivering 6,500 new affordable homes by 2011," says Nigel Yates, Lovell regional director for North Wales. "We're looking forward to working with the Syniad Consortium and the other framework partners on this major housing programme."
