Student scheme for Liverpool warehouse
Primesite Developments has submitted plans for 506-studio apartments in Liverpool on the site of the Swainbanks warehouse on Fox Street.
The proposals involve the conversion of the existing building into student accommodation, with the demolition of a three-storey rear extension to make way for the construction of a five- and four-storey block connected to the warehouse by a glass walkway.
There are four commercial units, a communal lounge and gym included in the plans, alongside a landscaped courtyard.
The four-storey brick warehouse was built in the late 1800s, and is used to store antiques and furniture for Swainbanks Furniture Shop. Primesite Developments acquired the site earlier this year.
KDP Architects designed the scheme.
In a planning statement to the council, KDP said that the apartments could be used for student accomodation, as "this site offers an excellent location for those wishing to be close to their place of study."
A spokesman for Primesite Developments said that it wanted to replicate the success of its recent scheme in Edge Lane in Liverpool, where it is on site with the conversion the St Cyprians Church into 118 studio apartments.
