Street lighting firms picked for NW panel
More than 20 councils and public authorities in the North West have joined together to procure street lighting contractors for the next four years in a reflection of the growing trend towards group buying.
The framework agreement is worth £7m over four years, an initial two years followed by an optional two-year extension.
The firms appointed to the framework are:
- Jones Lighting, of Leyland, Lancashire
- SSE Contracting, Reading
- E-ON Sustainable Energy, Coventry
- Schneider Electric Energy UK, Telford
- Aptus Utilities, Carlisle
- Nationwide Distribution Services, Rugby
- PN Daly, Milnrow, Lancashire
The authorities involved are Wigan, Bolton, Bury, Manchester, Oldham, Rochdale, Salford, Stockport, Tameside, Trafford, Blackburn with Darwen, Blackpool, Cheshire East, Warrington, Lancashire, St Helens, Manchester Airport Group, Greater Manchester Waste Disposal Authority, Greater Manchester Police, Greater Manchester Fire & Rescue Service and Transport for Greater Manchester.
Price was the important factor in the criteria, 60% of the selection weighting, followed by service delivery 10%, quality assurance 10%, business continuity 5%, training 5%, management information 5%, health and safety 3%, exit planning 2%.
The procurement process used was the Chest, the North West's local authority online procurement system.
