Stobart agrees to public meeting over airport fears
Representatives from Stobart Air will field questions about plans for the expansion of Carlisle Airport at a public meeting tomorrow night.
The meeting at Brampton's William Howard School will examine plans to create a 371,000 sq ft warehouse for road haulier Eddie Stobart together with a four-storey office block to be shared by Eddie Stobart and Stobart Rail along with a chilled dock, gatehouse, canteen and parking for 339 cars and 143 lorries.
The scheme is smaller than earlier plans, which Stobart Air dropped after they were called in for a public inquiry.
Campaigners complain that the growth of the airport would create unwanted noise and pollution from the traffic generated.
Professor Robin Smith will chair the meeting which is scheduled for Tuesday 28 October to run from 7pm until 9pm.
