Stations to receive £1.76m disability upgrade

More than £1.76m is to be invested in modernising access to seven of Merseyside's railway stations.

Merseytravel and the Department for Transport will fund the work to improve access for people with disabilities and mobility problems at the following stations:

  • Southport
  • Bidston
  • New Brighton
  • Wallasey Grove Road
  • Wallasey Village
  • Newton-le-Willows
  • St Helens Junction

Cllr Bob Roberts, chairman of Merseytravel's Transport Access Panel, said: "This is key funding for us, as it enables us to make some important access improvements to each of these seven railway stations. Small schemes such as this can make a big difference to people's lives."
