Stadium Quarter office plans approved

A 50,000 sq ft office building for nurturing small and start-up businesses has been granted planning permission by Warrington Council.

The incubator office was designed by Liverpool-based Falconer Chester Hall Architects and is proposed by Warrington Council. Much of the remainder of the Stadium Quarter development is a joint venture between developer Iliad Group and the council. The masterplan for the area includes residential, retail and leisure.

Subject to funding bids by the council being successful, the office building will be constructed on the site of the former Dallam Day Centre on Dallam Lane.

Steve Park, managing director of Warrington & Co, Warrington's partnership for economic growth, said: "Warrington Borough Council is actively pursuing funding options to build a business incubator unit in the town. This is a part of our growth agenda as set out in our framework document Warrington Means Business. The planning application is to ensure that we have a location ready for development as and when we obtain grant funding. We hope to have some positive announcements to make in this regard soon."

Adam Hall, managing director of Falconer Chester Hall, said: "This will be a prestigious building within an important mixed-use development, and our choice of high quality stone and glass elevations, together with a double-height glazed entrance lobby reflect this."

Unfortunately this is at the expense of dozens of mature trees and shrubs, everyone of which has been felled this week including dozens not even in the footprint of the development and with no landscaping plan for replacements. So sad to see Warrington being concreted over.
