SKM merging regional offices
Engineers and consultants Sinclair Knight Merz is taking 18,000 sq ft on the top floor of BAM Properties' Metro office development in Salford Quays.
In the first letting at the six-storey 72,500 sq ft building on Trafford Road, SKM is merging its two regional offices in Manchester city centre and Salford Quays and will initially occupy 12,500 sq ft on a 12-year lease and the remainder by late 2013. Details of the rent was not disclosed.
The building is located near to the Exchange Quay Metrolink station.
Neil Mort, BAM Properties' northern development manager based in Salford, said: "It's great news for Metro and we are delighted to welcome SKM. It is an indication of the more positive outlook which is emerging within the North West business community and certainly reflects the increase in the number of serious enquiries we have been receiving."
Joint letting agents CBRE and Canning O'Neill acted for BAM Properties, the tenant was unrepresented.
SKM will be moving from Telegraphic House on Waterfront Quay in Salford Quays and Alberton House in St Mary's Parsonage in Manchester city centre.
Metro is just a spectacularly ugly building isn’t it? It has really struggled to attract tenants and with much better space coming onto the market you would assume SKM were offered generous incentives.
