Economic development agency Cumbria Vision has added six new directors to its board including Kingmoor Park developer Brian Scowcroft.

Melanie Wotherspoon, director of private clients and charities, Jupiter Asset Management, London

Another place will be created on the board for a fourth district council representative. This appointment is to be made in the next few months.

Roger Liddle, chairman of Cumbria Vision, said: "These latest additions are an important step in reshaping Cumbria Vision as an effective vehicle for delivering a coherent strategy for economic regeneration in our county.

"We have strengthened it with heavyweight businesses, major employers in both the public and private sector, and leading experts in their chosen fields. The wealth of experience we now have around the table is superb and we will be drawing on each and every member's expertise to guide us through the challenges of improving delivery and ensuring that action is taking place on the ground."

Cumbria Vision is charged with overseeing the Cumbria Economic Plan – which was published in September 2007 and is the first strategy for economic development in the county.

It guides funding from the North West Development Agency, European Regional Development Fund, local authorities and matches it with private finance.
