Simon Jersey’s Lancs site up for grabs at £5.5m

Bids are invited for the workwear specialist’s 110,000 sq ft former base at Altham Business Park, Accrington.

Agent Taylor Weaver is charged with disposing of the site’s freehold.

Situated at Sykeside Drive, Altham Business Park in Accrington, the 110,492 sq ft premises includes around 22,000 sq ft of office space, a 2,671 sq ft first floor conference room and around 85,000 sq ft of warehousing, of which around 35,000 sq ft is on mezzanine levels.

The total site size is slightly more than six acres, and subject to planning, could accommodate an extension to the property of 30,000 sq ft to 40,000 sq ft. Interested parties are invited to contact the local planning authority, Hyndburn Council, over their proposed uses for the site.

Simon Jersey dates back to 1971 and supplies uniforms and workwear across a wide range of industry sectors, winning a coup in recent years when it secured the contract to supply the Team GB official Olympic Games uniforms.

The company was acquired by entrepreneur David Ross from its Swedish parent company Kwintet in 2014, a deal that followed Ross’ purchase of Stockport-based Ballyclare the previous year.

In the following years, parts of the business were transferred from the Accrington site to Ballyclare’s premises at Bird Hall Lane, Cheadle, with jobs moved between the sites over the course of 2018 and 2019.

According to the particulars, the vendor is prepared to offer a short-term leaseback on the space for a year, starting on the date of the sale’s completion.

Altham Business Park is close to Junction 8 of the M65. Other occupiers at the park include North West Logistics, Piolax, Senator International, BNP Europe and Stolle EMS.
