Seddon plans 64 Crewe homes

The developer wants to transform the site of the Hunter’s Lodge hotel, which was forced to close in January 2021 due to the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Located on the east side of Crewe town centre, Seddon Homes’ development could see the construction of 36 three-bedroom houses, 12 four-bedroom houses and 16 one-bedroom flats on the six-acre site.

A total of 19 of the homes are expected to be available for social rent or shared ownership.

If approved, the project would also feature a six-bedroom care home that would provide residents with 24-hour care, and 12 apartments providing independent living space aimed at people with learning disabilities.

Woodcroft Design is the architect and WSP is the planning consultant. The project team also includes Envirotech NW, E3p and Randall Thorp.

Earlier proposals submitted last year outlined plans for 68 homes on the site. These were scaled back due to the impact on green space in the area. Revised plans were submitted in March this year.

Cheshire East Council’s planning committee is expected to discuss the plan on 25 May.
