Sciontec launches flex offering at Spine
Around 10,000 sq ft of The Royal College of Physicians’ Liverpool office will be offered up as flexible workspace.
Sciontec Developments – a consortium made up of Liverpool John Moores University, University of Liverpool, Liverpool City Council and Bruntwood SciTech – has launched a flexible workspace division called Sciontec AI to manage the space.
The flexible offering will be set across the RCP’s first and second-floor space at the 14-storey Paddington Village building. RCP wants to attract SMEs and start-ups within the medical sector to the flexible space to boost collaboration.
In total, RCP occupies around 70,000 sq ft across seven floors at the Spine and has long held an ambition to lease out some of its demise as flexible workspace.
“As we emerge from the pandemic, it’s clear that the demand for serviced office type accommodation, with flexible terms, has significantly increased,” said Colin Sinclair, chief executive of Sciontec.
“Smaller businesses that were thrust into working from home are eager to get back into the real world. Sciontec is extremely excited to be able to use some of their space by bringing our AI product to the market and helping to meet that demand.”
Ian Bullock, chief executive of The Royal College of Physicians, said: “Sciontec’s ambition for providing world-class office accommodation perfectly complements our own mission to create healthy, inspirational spaces for our own employees, members and fellows to enjoy.
“The Spine is also our thriving education and assessment centre and we are delighted to be working with Sciontec to attract a vibrant community of like-minded, innovative companies to the building.”
It is thought that Sciontec AI could also feature within the 116,000 sq ft Hemisphere, the next office to be developed at Paddington Village.
No need for offices anymore.

Great building, and a good opportunity for smaller and start up businesses to experience the facilities there.
