Santander signs at Merseyway

Santander is to open a new branch at Merseyway shopping centre in Stockport.

The Spanish banking company has taken the 5,300 sq ft former Republica unit on a ten year lease from landlord UK Asset Resolution.

The branch will be the bank's second location in Stockport and one of 40 new Santander branches due to open across the UK by 2015.

There are more than 90 stores located in 380,000 sq ft of retail area at Merseyway, with 835 car parking spaces.

Jacqueline O'Shea, director of property agents GVA and managing agent of Merseyway, said: "Santander's identification of Merseyway as a location that fits their expansion trail is demonstrative of the centre's success as one of the North West's busiest shopping destinations and we're delighted to add them to our retail mix."

Tushingham Moore and Savills are joint letting agents for the centre.
