Salford engineers set out to address carbon reduction

A new consultancy offering energy efficiency advice and sustainable mechanical and electrical services solutions for the built environment has been launched in Salford.

Viridian Consulting Engineers is based at the Innovation Forum University Business Park in Salford and is set to assist building managers, developers, contractors and businesses alike in addressing carbon reduction and global climate issues.

The two directors of the company, engineers John Hughes and Paul Harris, have a combined experience of 46 years working within the building services industry.

Harris said: "People might wish to view these measures as an unnecessary expense but the surprising truth is that many of the systems that we can recommend, will actually pay for themselves in less than two years.

"Many sustainable solutions can actually increase output, and of course there is always an opportunity to increase turnover by generating your own energy and selling surpluses back to the national grid. That coupled with the fact that many businesses these days are attracting more new customers by demonstrating their support for ethical values, can only mean the future can look brighter for all of us."

Viridian will aim at providing a range of services from initial condition surveys to final compliance certifications and offer a range of design and installation support services, all of which can be project managed, in house. Viridian will also provide continued support in the form of planned maintenance programmes to ensure that efficiencies are kept at optimum levels for a building's lifetime.
