Royal Mail swaps Copperas Hill for Winwick Quay

The Royal Mail has leased a 179,000 sq ft warehouse, South 62, in Winwick Quay, Warrington from F&C Reit.

Following a search by WHR, the Royal Mail took at 10-year lease at the new base on an 11-acre site. Quoting rents are £3.75/sq ft.

The Royal Mail will switch sorting from Copperas Hill in Liverpool to Warrington by 2010. The company is also closing sorting offices in Oldham, Bolton and Stockport, moving work to Manchester and Preston.

WHR advises Royal Mail. DTZ and Cushman & Wakefield were letting agents for F&C Reit.

The contractor will carry out site investigations and work up plans for the groundwork at the 26-acre Central Docks waterfront site, including a five-acre public park.
