Residential development to continue at Queen’s Dock
The second phase of The Keel has been approved by Liverpool City Council, with Glenbrook and Moorfield set to deliver a further 257 apartments to sit alongside the converted former HMRC building.
The 240-apartment first phase of The Keel completed in September, and is considered to be the region’s first bespoke private rented scheme. The main contractor was Pochin.
Phase two has been designed by Brock Carmichael, with two eight-storey blocks sitting on the remaining land at the waterfront site.
At the same meeting yesterday, councillors granted planning permission to the reworking of a residential scheme at 65 Duke Street by Lady Mia Developments. Despite previously gaining planning approval for 75 student apartments, the application reduced the scheme to 69 apartments, for private rent.
The architect on the project is Day, with designs showing the retention of the Duke Street facade, and the construction of a three- to seven-storey building behind, with the entrance on Wolstenholme Square.
