Redrow successful in west Cheshire
Planning consultancy Turley Associates, acting on behalf of Redrow Homes, has secured planning permission for 70 units including 25 affordable homes in Tattenhall.
The strategic planning committee of Cheshire West & Chester Council resolved to grant outline planning permission for the site, situated to the rear of Harding Avenue, before Christmas but the application was referred to the Secretary of State for Communities & Local Government to consider whether he wished to hold a public inquiry into the proposals.
Eric Pickles has now confirmed that he does not wish to interfere and the council can grant planning permission for the scheme. Turleys said the application was one of a number of housing proposals for Tattenhall promoted by house builders but was the only application which secured support from the council.
The scheme would provide a mix of two, three, four and five-bedroom family homes.
Victoria Murray, head of land and planning at Redrow Homes NW, said: "We are delighted with this decision. There is a real need for new and affordable homes in Tattenhall which is not being currently met."
Sam Ryan, a director in the Manchester office of Turley Associates, said "This is a good decision for Redrow, particularly given that the council has refused planning permission for all of the other competing housing proposals in Tattenhall and all these are being considered at a joint public inquiry. The scheme will provide high quality homes, open space and will assist in sustaining existing facilities in the settlement."
I expect the choice of the word ‘settlement’ was taken because the village of Tattenhall will no longer be.

Nimby. It’s 75 units, not exactly a new town is it. People need to live somewhere, why shouldn’t your village take its share? No doubt those locals not fortunate to live in a choclate box cottage and in need of affordable housing will be very pleased Redrow got its plans approved.
