Realstar brand launches Manchester apartments

Show apartments and communal areas are available for viewing at build-to-rent brand UNCLE’s first Manchester scheme, at Orient House on Granby Row, with an open day to be held tomorrow.

The business model outlined for UNCLE, a subsidiary of Canadian property group Realstar, is to own and operate entire buildings with a minimum of 100 apartments per property in urban locations.

The proposed uses for the shared spaces at Granby Row are a gym, art studio and co-working space. The apartments have been designed by DesignAgency with furnishings supplied by Jordan Fishwick and JLL are marketing the building’s 171 studio and one-bedroom apartments, the first of which will be ready to occupy from June.

Founder of UNCLE Ryan Prince said: “UNCLE is a new challenger brand that’s seeking to take on the establishment players – from buy-to-let landlords to traditional estate agents and property managers. We’re confident that our common sense approach to renting will be a huge success in the city, matching the down-to-earth attitude of Mancunians.

“The fact that we’re cutting unexplained fees, offering complete flexibility when it comes to changing apartments regardless of where residents are in their lease, as well as giving people the chance to cancel their contract outright within the first two weeks, means that we’ve completely got our tenants’ backs.”

The development is Realstar’s first UK venture outside of London. Realstar owns or controls in excess of $6bn of assets.
