Promotion at BDP Manchester
Steve Merridew has been promoted from senior environmental designer to environmental design director and head of sustainability after three years at BDP.
Merridew replaces Dave Ritter, who has joined developer and BDP client Landsea in Shanghai. Merridew will leading BDP Manchester's sustainability group and support the environmental engineering director Rob Ferry, head of the studio's wider environmental design team.
Among Merridew's workload is the Enterprise South Liverpool Academy in Speke, the energy system for Manchester Town Hall Complex Transformation Project and the development of a sustainable energy master-plan for East Manchester.
He also helped establish Manchester Garden City, a voluntary campaign to create and encourage the continual growth of green spaces in Manchester city centre. He will also be involved in developing BDP's environmental design presence in China, and is working on the environmental design of the Nanjing Medical University.
BDP Manchester director, Gavin Elliot, said: "Steve is an outstanding designer and thinker. He has made a significant contribution to many of our projects both nationally and internationally, as well as demonstrating his skills as a social entrepreneur on the Manchester Garden City Initiative. I'm sure he will make a very significant contribution to both BDP Manchester and the city in the years to come."
