Portman Travel more than doubles Tootal Buildings footprint
Growing from 8,000 sq ft to 19,000 sq ft, the travel company has committed to housing its Clarity Travel and Destination Sports brands at the Manchester office complex for the next 10 years.
Portman Travel will take over the additional 11,000 sq ft in January, in a deal agreed with Tootal Buildings owner XLB and Pictet.
Regarding Portman Travel’s expansion, XLB’s Stephen Wormald said that it was “great to be able to provide the right space for [the company’s] continued growth”.
Wormald noted that the signing of the expanded lease also showed that XLB and Pictet are on the right track when it comes to attracting companies to The Tootal Buildings.
Wormald said: “Our commitment to providing sustainable workspace together with best-in-class amenities and occupier engagement, has facilitated 55,000 sq. ft of new leases during 2023, taking the buildings to 98% occupied.”
Fisher German acted for Portman Travel on the deal, with partner David Laws commenting: “The Clarity Travel and Destination Sports expansion is fantastic news for the city, and sends a positive statement to both the property and travel sectors”.
Laws added: “Much of the recent office market narrative has focused on businesses seeking less space in a post-pandemic, hybrid work environment. This deal bucks the trend and it’s great to see businesses expand and invest in their workplaces.”
Edwards & Co and CBRE are the joint agents for The Tootal Buildings.
One of Manchester’s grand old buildings. Good to see it being utilised.
