Pochin wins education contract

Cheshire-based Pochin construction has been chosen to construct a £7m education centre in Winsford.

The new project, which will be known as Winsford Learning Zone and will be situated at Mid-Cheshire College, will house a range of educational courses for the whole community.

The 37,135 sq ft, three-storey building, will be located on Weaver Street in Winsford and will eventually accommodate a student population of 245 and 73 full and part-time staff. Pochin will construct the building, as well as providing landscaping and car parking.

The project is expected to be completed by late next year.

Antony Pochin, business strategy director, of Pochin Construction said: "As Pochin is a Cheshire-based company, we are proud to play such an integral part in developing what proposes to be a landmark educational institution for the area. We hope Winsford Learning Zone will help attract further investment to their region."

The learning zone project is being led by Mid-Cheshire College and supported by a number of agencies including the North West Development Agency and Vale Royal Borough Council.
