Pochin tops out Mere hotel
Pochin Construction has reached the highest point of the new 81-bed hotel at Mere Golf Resort & Spa in Knutsford, Cheshire.
The hotel is due to open in March 2012 in an extension to the original Victorian building at the club along with a new restaurant in the existing atrium. The construction phase included demolition of the old leisure area and involved the refurbishment of a large portion of the existing building. Pochins also carried out external works to the new retaining walls, pathways and additional landscaped areas.
The hotel was designed by interior designers Mather & Co and architects NJSR. The development is funded by Royal Bank of Scotland.
Mark Boler, chief executive of Mere Golf Resort & Spa, said: "This is such a proud day for me and the whole team at the Mere. It's fantastic to finally see the hotel near completion and I just want to thank everyone who has supported us in getting to this stage. Our aim is to create the premier resort destination in the North West and I am looking forward to the launch and opening in March next year."
Antony Pochin, director of special projects at Pochin, said: "We were very honoured to have the opportunity to work on such a fantastic development in our home region of Cheshire. To have been involved right from the start with the addition of the Health Club & Spa and now the new hotel, it is great to see the transformation of such a prestigious leisure development."
