Pochin tops out in Altrincham

Joint venture partners Pochin Property and Citybranch have celebrated topping-out the town's new £13m general hospital.

The 75,000 sq ft hospital in Railway Street is being developed for Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Pochin Construction is the contractor for the scheme.

The hospital will have four storeys above basement parking. Facilities include a minor injuries unit, outpatient consultation and treatment rooms, physiotherapy suites, X-ray room, ultrasound and blood testing services, in addition to staff offices, meeting rooms and welfare facilities.

The development will replace the current Altrincham Hospital, which dates back to the 19th century.

Jonathan Pochin, managing director of Pochin Construction, said: "We are excited to be entering the final stages of this project. It is rewarding to know that the modern, state-of-the-art facility will benefit both patients and staff whilst encouraging further development in the town centre."

Adam Gross, director at Citybranch, said: "The project promises to deliver a vital boost to both healthcare delivery and property development in Trafford, and we're pleased that so many members of the community showed interest and came out in support of the development. We're looking forward to the final result and the multitude of services it will offer Altrincham."

Pochin Property is managing the delivery with Beaumont Lord as employer's agent. Aedas Architects designed the building and Capita Symonds is providing structural, civil, mechanical and electrical engineering services.

The hospital is expected to open in 2015.
