Plans revealed for 102 affordable Preston homes

Breck Homes wants to build a mix of houses and maisonettes off Sidgreaves Lane in Cottam.

The developer has lodged plans with Preston City Council for the scheme, which would deliver 102 affordable homes.

Plans for the estate feature 36 two-, 24 three-, and four four-bedroom houses. There would also be 38 one-bedroom maisonettes, of which 19 are proposed to be ground-floor, level-access homes designed to suit single, elderly, or disabled occupants.

There are 71 properties earmarked for affordable rent, with the other 31 to be available for shared ownership.

Progress Housing Group would acquire the six-acre site following completion, according to a planning statement.

Currently used for grazing, the land is allocated for housing under Preston’s local plan.

Mosaic Town Planning is advising Breck Homes on the scheme. The project team also includes Prime Transport Planning, United Environmental Services, Ironside Farrar, SurveyEng, Echo Acoustics, IGE Consulting, and Trevor Bridge Associates.

Where is the infrastructure. Shops, schools and medical centres. These must be built along with roads before building new estates. Have councils learnt nothing over the last 50 years. Without the necessary infrastructure in place these estates will become wasteland very swiftly
