Plans in for Omega South shed

Omega Warrington has submitted a planning application for a 680,000 sq ft logistics facility at Omega South, earmarked for occupation by online retailer The Hut Group.

The application is for a 41-acre site at the North West corner of Omega South. The development will include warehouse space plus a two-storey office development.

Omega Warrington said that the plot would have capacity for future expansion for the occupier.

The premises will sit within Zone 7, the 150-acre section of Omega South granted outline planning consent in May for 2.1m sq ft of logistics and manufacturing space, a new access road and a 35 acres of green space.

A positive decision on the planning application would mark the second development on Omega South, with construction of 583,000 sq ft of premises for ASDA under way and expected to open in 2015.

Brakes, Hermes, Travis Perkins and ASDA have all committed to Omega with over 1.6m sq ft of logistics premises either open or under construction.

A decision on this latest application is expected to be made by Warrington Council over the next couple of months. A spokesman for Warrington Council said that once permission was granted start on site would be expected imminently.

Omega Warrington is a joint venture between Miller Developments and KUC Properties, part of The Royal Bank of Scotland Real Estate Asset Management, in partnership with landowner the Homes & Communities Agency and supported by Warrington Council and the Cheshire & Warrington LEP.
