Planning underway for 200 Liverpool homes on council sites
The first sites to be developed for housing by Liverpool Mutual Homes, Redrow and Wilmott Dixon for Liverpool City Council have been identified.
Under the plan, Redrow Homes and LMH will jointly build 1,500 new homes and LMH aims to refurbish another 1,000 as part of a £205m investment over the next five years.
The five sites, which now out to public consultation with the local community before seeking planning approval, will deliver 200 new and refurbished properties in the first phase.
The sites are:
New homes
- Watergate School in Woolton, site of former Sunflower Centre, 25 houses for owner-occupied market sale
- Part of original Holly Lodge School in West Derby, 70 houses/apartments for owner occupied market sale and refurbished listed lodges with wildlife features preserved
- Leighton Dene Day Care Centre in Norris Green, 20 properties for affordable rent
Refurbishments
- Marwood Tower, Everton, 60 units for over-55s and 20 apartments for affordable rent
- Normanton Avenue in St Michael's, eight self-contained apartments for affordable rent
Assistant Mayor and cabinet member for housing, Cllr Ann O'Byrne, said: "This is just the start of a five-year programme which will deliver new and refurbished properties across the city, offering a greater range and quality of homes for our residents.
"This new partnership is playing a major part in the on-going transformation of housing, and build on the fantastic momentum we've created in recent years.
The first starts on site are expected to be in spring 2015.
