Peel Ports commercial director leaves
Dennis Henderson, commercial director on the board of Peel Ports Group, has left the business suddenly after four years.
Henderson departed on Friday and no statement has been made yet about his replacement. A spokesman for Peel Ports declined to comment this morning.
Henderson was among the senior management team driving Peel Ports' ambitious £750m Mersey Ports Integration Strategy which is underpinned by the £300m mid-river container terminal now under construction in the River Mersey. The plan is to increase trade between the Port of Liverpool and Port Salford via Port Cheshire in Ellesmere Port, Port Warrington and along the Manchester Ship Canal.
Ship Canal container volumes rose from 3,000 in 2009 to nearly 30,000 in 2013.
Peel Ports Group owns seven ports around the UK and handles 70 million tonnes of cargo each year.
Henderson joined from Unipart Automotive in February 2010 as group business development director. He was promoted to commercial director in February 2013. He has also worked for Virgin Retail and Hays Logistics.
Maybe he has realised that everything Peel are doing on Merdeyside is smoke and mirrors and that they are only interested in extracting as much money out of every deal possible. Liverpool City Council you have been warned.
