Peel International Trade Centre consultation next week

Peel has announced a public consultation date for its International Trade Centre project in Birkenhead; Friday 5 August.

Peel submitted an outline planning application for four separate buildings totaling 2.5m sq ft at the start of June. A day of public consultation will be held in Birkenhead market from 10 am to 4pm next Friday.

Representatives of the Peel ITC team will be present to explain the project's concept and benefits and to answer any questions. Leaflets will also be available as well as a questionnaire which those who attend may complete to express their views in writing and offer support or indeed objections. An online consultation process is also available on the Peel ITC website

The Peel ITC will be restricted to trade use only. The facility is aimed at trade buyers who are looking for access to new goods and markets. Local businesses will in particular benefit from using the Peel ITC. The general public will not be able to use the facility.

The centre will have capacity for 1,000 companies from countries such as China, India, South Korea and other emerging economies as well as the UK, to exhibit, sell, assemble and distribute their goods into the UK, Irish and European markets. Peel claims the facility will be the first of its kind in the UK.

Peel anticipates that planning permission will be granted by autumn 2011.
