OMI completes Booth Street overhaul for Helical
OMI Architects’ redevelopment of 31 Booth Street, the grade two-listed Manchester office formerly known as Fountain Court, has been completed.
OMI has been lead designer for the £2.3m project, collaborating with Spaceinvader on internal finishes within the new lobby. The building, which sits within the upper King Street conservation area, now comprises 25,000 sq ft of office space and 3,500 sq ft of A3 restaurant space.
Alterations to the building include the opening up of a previously blocked up historic archway to form a new main entrance. A bronze entrance doorway and canopy have been introduced, leading into a radically reordered ground floor layout. Ceiling heights throughout have been increased.
Originally designed by Victorian practice Clegg & Knowles in 1868 the Venetian Gothic corner block was most recently occupied by Savills, before the firm moved across the street to Belvedere in 2011. Helical bought the building for an undisclosed sum in January 2016.
Looks great. A real gem.

It’s a shame that there aren’t as many of these large private-sector lets being secured in Liverpool.

The artists impression looks a gem indeed, its just a shame that actual building doesn’t present like that. The works to the outside of the building appear to have been value engineered/not done.

Time lag, sounds like you’ve been stumbling past the building after a liquid lunch with blurred vision?! externally and internally the building looks great!
