Salford tips 43-storey Renaker tower for approval
The 444-apartment scheme forms part of the developer’s three-tower cluster in the Greengate area of the city.
Designed by Denton Corker Marshall, Renaker’s 43-storey skyscraper is the second element of the masterplan to come forward. The 52-storey Colliers Yard, designed by OMI Architects, is under construction.
Salford City Council’s planning committee will meet next Thursday to discuss the proposals for phase two, plans for which were lodged in September.
The council’s planning officers have recommended the application be approved, stating they are “satisfied the development would make a significant, positive contribution towards the ongoing regeneration of the Greengate area”.
The 371,000 sq ft building would be built on a plot bounded by Trinity Way, Collier Street and Bond Street.
As well as a mix of one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments, the Renaker development features 7,000 sq ft of commercial space on the ground floor.
Colliers Yard is expected to complete by January 2024 and construction of the second tower is due to begin in January, subject to planning approval.
The third tower, which has outline consent for 518 units, is scheduled to complete in 2028. A reserved matters application for this tower has not yet been submitted.
In total, Renaker’s Greengate trio will provide almost 1,500 homes.

I’m old enough to remember when “regeneration” meant something along the lines of a broad range of applied public intervention to improve the environmental, social, and environmental situation of communities. This is just property development.

At least they are building it in the right place. Here and Great Jacksons St are really becoming significant clusters for the city centre. Can’t wait for the next 10 years .
