Rochdale council launches £60m office contest

Rochdale council will this week publish the tender inviting developers to bid for the chance to deliver a £60m municipal office development in the town centre.

The design-and-build new riverside development will provide 300,000 sq ft of office accommodation for approximately 2,600 council, NHS and private sector staff together with a new library and information centre, public customer services, training and conference facilities.

The building is due to be completed by 2012 and will be followed by a major new retail development and £11.5m transport interchange.

The office will be built on the former Yelloways bus depot site on Smith Street. The winning development partner is due to be named by May 2010.

  • A briefing session for interested developers will be held at Rochdale Town Hall on 15 July. To reserve a place contact Michelle Hesketh on 01706 925417 or email corporate.procurement@rochdale.gov.uk
