Car hire service Rentalcars.com has moved into a 38,000 sq ft office in 35 Fountain Street, after a £2.7m refurbishment of the building.
The fit-out was completed by OBI Property.
Each floor has been designed around a theme including road trip, world cars, drive-in movies and metropolis, with meetings rooms named James Bond, Italian Job, Manchester, Route 66 and World Map.
The office also includes a number of break-out areas including a cinema and gaming space, a beach-themed café, Starbucks bar, swings and a pool table in a car.
More than 90 flat screen TVs have been installed around the office to keep staff up to date with company information such as web-site performance and current projects.
There is also a purpose-built bike store with capacity for 100 bikes alongside lockers and private shower-rooms.
More than 350 members of staff from marketing, HR, IT, legal, front end and finance have relocated from Sunlight House on Quay Street, which will also undergo a major refurbishment later this year. Around 70 contact centre staff remain at the old site.
Ian Brown, chief executive of Rentalcars.com, said: “Since Rentalcars.com was founded ten years ago, we’ve gone from strength to strength. With more than 1,000 colleagues currently employed in Manchester, our old office just didn’t have the capacity to sustain our rate of growth. Even though we’ve moved 350 colleagues from Sunlight House, we’re expecting to fill that space up again very quickly.
“At Rentalcars.com we’re proud to be anything but ordinary and we wanted a new office space that would really reflect this ethos and the diversity of our team.”
CBRE and OBI Property are the joint agents at 35 Fountain Street.
