Public meeting to decide on TIF referendum

Leaders of the Association of Greater Manchester Authorities will meet tomorrow to decide whether to hold a referendum on the region's £2.7bn Transport Innovation Fund bid.

A public meeting will take place at 11am at Bury Town Hall where the issue will be discussed.

The TIF has been met with opposition by some who feel that the proposed congestion charge it would involve is an unfair levy on workers at a time when financial conditions are particularly difficult.
