Primas Law appoints head of housing

Sheila Whitton has joined Manchester-based commercial law firm Primas Law to lead the growth of its housing and regeneration team.

Whitton joins from Weightmans where she was a partner and headed up its social housing property team.

In a career spanning more than 20 years, Whitton has dealt with all aspects of property work at firms including Brabners, Cobbetts and Freeths Solicitors.

In her role at Primas Law, Whitton will advise on large-scale social housing developments, managing the property transaction process from site acquisition through to project completion. Her remit includes managing complex regeneration schemes and developments for shared ownership, shared equity and market sale.

Whitton said: “Primas Law has a quality reputation throughout the North West and an emerging one in the South East. I was attracted by the ambition of the firm and that its focus is entirely on commercial clients and property sectors.”

Simon Baxter, head of the real estate department at Primas Law, added: “Housing and regeneration is a growing area of the firm and with Sheila on board we can broaden our offer to clients in what is a very complex area.”

Primas Law has offices on Fountain Street in Manchester and at Wilderspool Business Park in Cheshire, and opened an office in London earlier this year.
