Planning approved for new homes project in Orrell

Steven Abbott Associates has secured planning permission for a number of residential properties to be built in Orrell, Greater Manchester.

Working on behalf of residential property developer Hagan Homes, the independent town planning practice undertook lengthy pre-application discussions with local planning authority officers at Wigan Council to ensure the scheme met the housing needs of the local community.

Approval has been granted for 21 properties consisting of houses and apartments.

Christie McDonald, associate at Steven Abbott Associates, said: "The SAA team has worked closely with Wigan Council for two years on this project. The site is in a prominent location on the edge of the green belt, so it was vital to all involved that the development not only delivers much needed homes to Orrell, but also improves the aesthetics of the area, which currently consists of an old petrol filing station and a former vehicle repair business."

Tony Lawson of Chorley-based Lawson Margerison Partnership is the architect on the scheme.
