Lego builds Liverpool One’s children’s offer
Lego Group is to take a 3,933 sq ft unit formerly occupied by Hed Kandi in Grosvenor's Liverpool One on South John Street.
The Lego store will open in mid-August carrying a range that includes exclusive and difficult-to-find sets that are not available elsewhere. Lego will join Build-a-Bear Workshop and Disney in Liverpool One.
The letting is part of the aggressive retail roll-out by the traditional toy brand. The large Legoland Discovery Centre has proven to be a popular addition to the Trafford Centre in the past year.
Miles Dunnett, head of asset management at the Grosvenor Liverpool Fund, said: "Liverpool One's success is driven by our continuous search for innovative and exciting brands. We are very pleased, therefore, to welcome the Lego Group. The brand is a perfect addition to the retail mix on South John Street and reinforces Liverpool One's role as the region's first choice day-out destination."
Grosvenor said sales at Liverpool One have increased 15% in the past 12 months.
There have been six new stores arrive in Liverpool One this year, mostly replacing retailers that have gone into administration. Hobbs and Calvin Klein have opened 4,300 sq ft and 3,459 sq ft stores respectively on Peter's Lane, North Face opened a 4,226 sq ft store on Paradise Street, and Vans opened a 2,510 sq ft regional flagship on the upper level of South John Street. Jack Jones and Eat have both opened on the lower level of South John Street.
