Knight Knox and X1 expand Trafford Road cluster

Knight Knox and X1 Developments have submitted their latest planning application for a buy-to-let apartment scheme in Salford, a 20-storey tower made up of 193 flats.

X1 The Gateway on Trafford Road has a total development value of £33m, and is due for completion in early 2018 subject to planning permission.

The scheme is a larger reworking of an earlier project which was approved on the same site, 211 Trafford Road, designed by Coda Studios. DK Architects is advising on the latest application.

The project is the latest on Trafford Road to be brought forward by Knight Knox and X1. The Exchange has 140 flats, and is currently under construction.

The plots are next to the River Irwell and near to Salford Quays.

X1 The Gateway will include an on-site gym, residents’ car parking, secure bicycle storage, a management office within the foyer and a ground-floor retail unit.

A number of the properties will also have large roof terraces. The flats were launched to the market for sale earlier this year.

The scheme will be constructed by Forrest, with building expected to commence in June this year, and will be subsequently let and block managed by X1 Lettings.
