Hospital retenders car park after PFI dropped

A new multi-storey car park costing between £12m and £16m has to be built 'immediately as two previous notices were not awarded due to the fact a PFI solution could not be agreed and a contacting authority error.'

The 12-month project for Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust will see 939 parking spaces built above offices and retail on Whinney Heys Road, Blackpool.

An earlier plan for a larger £20m project that included road works and improvements to other car parks at the hospital has been dropped.

ESE Project Management is advising and hopes to appoint a contractor by September.

No one from the facilities department at the hospital was available for comment.
