GVA Grimley lays off Liverpool partner Backhouse

Roy Backhouse, partner in GVA Grimley's Liverpool office, has been made redundant.

Backhouse, an industrial agent, joined from Hitchcock Wright & Partners in 2006.

GVA Grimley opened its Liverpool office in 2005 with the acquisition of sole practitioner David Sayer, a former equity partner at Edmund Kirby. GVA Grimley employs around a dozen people in Liverpool and ten times that in Manchester.

GVA Grimley, a limited liability partnership, has not disclosed further details of its cost-cutting programme.

Mark Rawstron, senior regional director, GVA Grimley, said:"The current challenging conditions dictate that – like many businesses – we have had to make cost-savings and very regrettably, have had to make Roy Backhouse's role redundant."
