Fowler Welch Coolchain to close Stockport site

Dart Group-owned Fowler Welch Coolchain is closing its Stockport base and moving to a newly acquired 500,000 sq ft warehouse in Heywood.

The site in Heywood is already home to the company's national distribution centre. Fowler Welch Coolchain warehouses, consolidates and distributes fresh produce, and chilled and frozen food products.

The Lincolnshire-based firm said that the amount of warehousing space it will own at the site will increase to more than 1m sq ft.

The cost of the 55,000-pallet capacity distribution centre and warehouse at Heywood Distribution Park was not disclosed.
