CERT unveils 30-storey tower plans for Salford

The Manchester-based property developer has launched a consultation for its 402-apartment community living project, complete with a sky bar.

CERT property will build the OMI Architects-designed tower on Clippers Quay. There will be 261 studios, 126 one- and two-bedroom apartments and 15 penthouse units.

There will also be communal living facilities, according to CERT. The company said it will implement technology “to create a thriving community environment, with a range of amenities on offer within the building”. Among those amenities are a lounge, café, cycle storage, fitness and yoga studios, co-working space, gaming room, auditorium and roof terrace.

The sky bar, located on the 30th floor, will be open to both residents and the public. It will offer views across The Quays and MediaCity.

“We’re proposing a new way of living, not just a place to live but an entire lifestyle choice,” said Howard Lord, managing director of CERT. “Our community living concept is designed to recreate the neighbourhood community spirit of old, in a contemporary context.

“Our plans include a vast and varied mix of amenity spaces, designed to help our tenants to meet like-minded people and build commonality through shared experiences and interests,” he continued. “We intend to introduce an environment that joins up living, working and socialising all under one roof.”

Excellent scheme and nice to see Enabl Planning get a name check!

Awful ,but in that respect it will fit well in the Quays. A shame here though as the current development at Clippers Quay looks great.

That top section looks cheap and dated.

More cars dump on our streets, but hay hoe they’ve got a bike rack,

Studios should be banned unless part of a HMO scheme… Other than that it’s good to see another tower go up in the area (should be taller though and have a parking space per flat and balconies).

There’s a climate emergency, we need to stop building cities and ride bikes through the countryside

By DH

Yet another carbuncle. They just can’t get it right. It’s despairing.

This reminds me of the other one above the Lowry which looks terrible.
Can’t believe they’re trying to recreate it and make it taller.

Another high rise blocking out the sun why not actually build houses live on Merchants Quay will we ever see the sun again. Never mind the parking issues and never mind the impact onto the environment

A first year student in Architecture could do better than this.A box plonked on top of another. London gets the good stuff and the north gets the scraps. British domestic architecture is the worst in Europe.

Let’s hope that these up market apartments bring in huge Council Taxes . I suppose that when Planning was granted by the Council they allowed for other support services such as school places Doctors waste management emergency services car parking site access green space landscaping etc

Great Design, wish some other cities could get a look in when it comes to development though. Sigh…..

People give it to shp when they preview a new tower but if this is the alternative . . .

Wow! This is amazing work. This is professional architecture work!

More towers, I have no idea who is living in all of these but according to that survey last week they keep filling up. And that’s a good thing

Awful, cheap design!

By Johnny

A lot of the apartments around the quays have balconies. They’ll miss out if they don’t include them

By Dannyboy

I’m with John on this; it’s a terrible building.

By 1981

It is an eye sore if it is going to look like that and will look stupid.

This ugly building is not worthy of Salford. But I suppose it will fit in with Tall the other ugly and cheap architecture in Salford
