Bam wins Etihad Campus

Bam Construction has won the £100m contract to build the new training academy and 80-acre Etihad Campus for Manchester City FC.

Bam is understood to have beaten Carillion, Bowmer & Kirkland and Laing O'Rourke to the contract.

There will be training facilities for 400 young players to work alongside the senior squad, 17 pitches, sleeping accommodation, 7,000-capacity youth stadium, offices and media centre. A new bridge across Alan Turing Way will link the Etihad Stadium and the academy. The will also be a new sixth form college built in the corner of the campus.

The scheme was designed by architect Rafael Viñoly and won planning consent in December.

The project team also includes Capita Symonds, Aecom, BDP, Turner & Townsend and Aedas.

Completion is due in January 2016.
