BAM Nuttall completes pontoon for RWE

A new pontoon built by BAM Nuttall has become fully operational at the Gwynt y Môr Offshore Wind Farm base at the Port of Mostyn in North Wales.

The 10-berth pontoon will improve the offshore transfer of wind turbine engineers and technicians throughout the construction and operational lifetime of the wind farm.

Approximately 110 jobs are being created to staff the Gwynt y Môr base at Mostyn which is gradually becoming operational ahead of the wind farm's completion later this year.

Toby Edmonds, project director at RWE Innogy, operator of Gwynt y Môr, said: "Completing the pontoon has been an important step forward in the development of both the construction and operations facilities for Gwynt y Môr at the Port of Mostyn."

The 10-berth pontoon was commissioned with power, water and re-fuelling locations built in.

Gwynt y Môr is a €2bn offshore wind farm on schedule to become fully operational in 2014.
