Approval gained for Urmston homes

A six-home scheme designed by Ollier Smurthwaite on Urmston’s Station Road has been granted planning consent.

The application, put together by Paul Butler Associates, was recommended for approval by officers at Trafford Council’s latest planning committee.

The developer for the project is Urmston Developments, with the scheme set to be built on land to the rear of the old police station and Gladstone Buildings on Station Road.

The half-acre plot is currently used as car parking for locals and was formerly a bowling green. The development includes the removal of 44 car parking spaces to make way for the six three-bedroom houses, but replacement car parking will be provided as part of the terms of the planning consent.

Objections were raised from locals regarding the scheme’s impact on parking, increase of traffic, with some comments stating the plot would be overdeveloped with the houses being “too big.”

Let’s be honest, these are repulsive.

I live very nearby, didn’t even realsie the site was there! Artist’s impression looks great. We need more homes and everyone’s always asking for brownfield development, when it comes there’s always nimbys complaining. Come on people, see the positive! Agree though with the objector who raises the point about woeful train service from Urmston into Manchetser. However, I don’t think the occupiers of these 6 peoperties will tip the balance.

Now this is what high quality homes should look and feel like, not the mass produced shoddy boxes churned out by the volume house builders.

As I understand it, there is still a legally binding agreement in place, forbidding any structures being built on the former Liberal Club bowling green. How have you circumvented this?
