AEGON appoints fit-out firm for £6m refurbishment

Warrington-based Morris & Spottiswood has won a £6m contract to refurbish financial specialist AEGON UK's North West head office in Lytham St Anne's, Lancashire.

The job involves removing partition walls, replacing floor, wall and ceilings, re-decorating, installing new windows, repairing the roof and mechanical and electrical services. Morris & Spottiswood will also upgrade the company's kitchen, servery and restaurant.

The work will be carried out in five phases outside normal working hours and at weekends where possible.

"We are thrilled to have been chosen by AEGON to carry out this substantial workplace fitout," commented Chris Saxton, Morris & Spottiswood chief executive. "At the peak of this project we expect to employ more than 50 tradeseople working on site, many of whom will be from the local community."

He added: "The greatest challenge during the project will be to ensure AEGON staff are able to relocate to their new offices as smoothly as possible. We aim to achieve this by continuing to build a strong relationship with AEGON'S team during the development phase and working closely together throughout the duration of the project."

Work begins this June and is scheduled to be completed by July 2010.
