New lead for RICS matrics branch
Georgina Rose, surveyor at Jones Lang LaSalle in Manchester, has been selected as the new chairman of RICS matrics Greater Manchester, whilst Anna Dooley of Knight Frank in has been appointed vice chairman.
Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors matrics Greater Manchester is a networking and support group for surveying students, trainees and those with less than 10 years' surveying experience.
Previously the vice chairman of the group for the past year, Rose, who works within the valuation department at Jones Lang LaSalle, helped to organise large events and projects.
Dooley is currently undertaking her Assessment of Professional Competence to become a chartered surveyor. She has also served on the RICS matrics committee.
Rose said: "Anna and I will be looking to help engage young people with the profession as a potential career path at both school and further education levels. We are also in the process of finalising our activities for autumn and winter, which will be based around valuable feedback we've had, so we are hoping to see even more professionals at our events in the future."
Rose intends to ensure the committee regularly meets with students at local universities to offer support to those about to make the transition from student to surveyor. She and the committee will also plan a wide range of affordable social and professional development events and activities, as well as new member receptions, which offer vital support and information to recently qualified surveyors.
Starting in early September, the group will host six seminars on a variety of topics at the DWF offices in Manchester. They also have a new members reception planned for October to welcome graduates and newly chartered surveyors to the area, as well as an inter-professional quiz night planned to take place in November.
