NCC Group takes 60,000 sq ft in XYZ

Global information assurance specialist NCC Group is to relocate from the Manchester Technology Centre in Oxford Road to Allied London’s XYZ building in Spinningfields.

Rob Cotton, chief executive of NCC Group, said: “As a rapidly growing, FTSE-listed business at the forefront of technology we needed a space that could match our ambitions and keep up with us as we continually adapt to the rapid pace of technological change. We found that space in XYZ.

“Our company’s success is based on innovation and by situating ourselves within the heart of Spinningfields we are aiming to create and stimulate a hotbed of tech creativity in the surrounding community.”

The 160,000 sq ft XYZ is due to complete in autumn 2016. The building has 20,000 sq ft floorplates and 30,000 sq ft of amenity space. Other recent lettings include media entertainment group Global and law firm Shoosmiths.

Michael Ingall, chief executive of Allied London, said: “NCC Group is a leading technology company in its field and it’s great for Manchester to headquarter such an operation and it’s appropriate for it now to be located at XYZ, Spinningfields, which will be the city’s most advanced commercial building. XYZ was built for the likes of such innovative and pioneering companies and our workspace solution will support NCC Group’s talented workforce throughout their careers.

“XYZ Spinningfields is a building aimed deliberately at defining a new asset class of workspace particularly for the TMT sector and forward-thinking corporates. Some 20% of the XYZ building will be amenity space, from independent coffee hubs, innovative restaurants, co-work space, event and conference space, screening and cinema room, terraces and garden together with a bike park and personal fitness studio.”

Superb performance from OBI. Not many companies can act on both sides and still give impartial advice. Well done them.

they should have got independent advice.

Dear Agent

May I suggest this is a view from days gone by.

What could be wrong with OBI acting on both sides, I presume the shareholders of NCC Group are very comfortable that they got the best deal available and that this was tested in the market against the competition? I am also confident that Allied London are very happy with the deal.

Lets just hope that OBI are able to negotiate full fees from both sides, as this would surly be the icing on the cake. Well done OBI you are a credit to the profession.

Morse, tenants with independent advice always get a superior package. To the best of our knowledge (GVA) this letting was not market tested. So, yes, well done OBI for presenting only one option.

agreed. OBI have done a stellar job for Allied London.

Dear Agent

Why do you assume that the NCC Group did not get a very competitive deal? It has been well documented how competitive Allied London have been in the past, so I think it would be safe to assume that the NCC Group will have achieved at least 4-5 years rent free for this sizeable pre-let.

Surely if OBI are “in the market” and are looking after their clients interest, then this is not their fault.
