Muse signs Sainsbury’s at Stockport Exchange
Muse Developments has agreed a deal to bring Sainsbury’s to Stockport Exchange, its new office scheme opposite the train station.
The 4,000 sq ft Sainsbury’s Local store will open in the ground floor of the 50,000 sq ft office building, currently under construction.
Muse has already agreed a deal with Holiday Inn Express for a 115-bed hotel. Other work includes a new public square and reconfigured road layout to improve access and drop-off space at the station.
Wes Erlam, development director at Muse, said: “The new store will add to the amenities available for office workers, hotel guests and commuters and is a key milestone in establishing the scheme as a new place to work and visit, and as a gateway to Stockport town centre and the wider region.”
The new Sainsbury’s Local will open in November 2016. Completion of the office is expected in October and the hotel in December 2016. As yet there are no prelets at the office building.
Stockport Exchange will eventually deliver up to 375,000 sq ft of office space and 28,000 sq ft of retail and leisure space. The first phase of the scheme, a 1,000-space multi-storey car park operated by NCP, completed in 2014.
Cushman & Wakefield and CBRE are joint agents for the scheme.
