Muse launches travel option at Cheadle Royal
Muse Developments has launched a commuter bus service to and from Cheadle Royal Business Park to show support for green travel initiatives.
The new service, provided by local company and registered charity Easy-Go Community Travel, launched on 24 January in a bid to reduce the reliance on cars as a mode of transport.
Tenants at the business park will be able to board the bus at Stockport and Heald Green train stations as an alternative to travelling by car.
Easy-Go will provide two 16-seater buses for the service. The service will operate pick-ups between four stops including Stockport train station, Stockport bus station, Heald Green train station and the business park.
The services will run twice in the morning between 7.35am and 8.50am and twice in the evening from 4.45pm to 6.10pm.
Wes Erlam, development surveyor at Muse Developments, said: "Cheadle Royal Business Park is extremely well located with access to the local road network, as well as being close to local bus and train services. However, unfortunately there is a gap in the local bus service which can make it more difficult to arrive by public transport at peak times in the morning. The aim of this new service is to eliminate that gap and provide an option that has not previously been available to occupiers of the business park."
The buses are compliant to the Disability Discrimination Act and are available for free to all workers at the business park for a three month introductory period. Tenants are advised to book a place on the service the day before and hop on and off at their preferred destinations.
Cllr David White, executive member for transportation at Stockport Council, which has provided support for the scheme since its early inception, said: "Stockport Council has worked closely with Muse Developments and Easy-Go CT to deliver an excellent initiative for the business park which will help to reduce traffic congestion in the area, reduce parking demand and provide a sustainable travel alternative for employees and businesses."
