Morgan Sindall wins £7m airport tower job
Construction group Morgan Sindall has won the £7m contract to build a new control tower at Manchester Airport.
The 60-metre tower, next to the north fire station, should be completed in 2013 and will replace the existing air traffic centre.
According to the airport it will be the second tallest in the UK.
Dave Smith, regional managing director at Morgan Sindall, said: "Securing the contract for the new ATC tower is testament to the expertise we've developed in the UK aviation sector and our ability to consistently deliver on time and to budget.
"We are working closely with Manchester Airports Group's in-house team as well as architects CPMG and engineers URS Scott Wilson and are delighted to start on site."
