Morgan Ashurst completes £11m health centre
Morgan Ashurst has completed an £11m health centre in Ashton-under-Lyne, due to be officially opened in December.
Salford-based Morgan Ashurst performed a preliminary handover at a special ceremony, with its project manager – Jason Jones – presenting keys and a DVD on the progress of the building to Bury, Tameside & Glossop Community Solutions, which developed and funded the project.
The Ashton Primary Care Centre has also been built and funded under the Government-led NHS Local Improvement Finance Trust initiative, a public private partnership scheme designed to create new community-based primary care facilities and improve existing facilities across the country.
Morgan Ashurst worked with Business Link Northwest, employing two young apprentices – through the Train to Gain scheme – to help build the energy saving primary care centre, as part of its commitment to involving the community in local projects. Manchester-based architects SMC-DTR:UK was also chosen to design the centre.
Bury, Tameside & Glossop Community Solutions will officially hand over the health centre to Tameside & Glossop Primary Care Trust in the next few weeks.
